Sarah Cancelliere RMT
Clinic Owner, Registered Massage Therapist
Sarah is a graduate of the Massage Therapy Program at Fleming College. After a very fulfilling and successful career for 21 years as a Certified Level 2 Dental Assistant, her love for treating the entire body as a whole unit to isolate and find the “why” is what lead her to change careers. She has a lot of experience working alongside some Dentists that took her along in their continuing education to fully understand the correlation between the way teeth come together, coupled with the way the jaw joint itself is situated, has shown that it has a great deal of impact on the incidence of TMJ (jaw joint) dysfunction. Symptoms of this can include “clicking”, “popping” noises, jaw locking, jaw “tiredness,” inability to consume chewy foods, tension headaches, feelings of sinus congestion, or even tinnitus (ringing in the ears). During her career as a Dental Professional, she has been able to be an active participant in helping patients find relief of some of these symptoms and find overall balance.
Since becoming an RMT, she has continued this passion with some continuing education courses on both TMJ Dysfunction Massage, along with further Intra Oral Massage Techniques courses to extend her knowledge of this complex joint. Assessing the body as a whole, finding the “why” of a client’s postural stresses, aches and pains, etc., and creating a unique treatment plan to treat the whole body for these issues, is Sarah’s main focus in therapeutic care.
Sarah utilizes an array of different modalities to assist her treatments successes with cupping, hot stone and cold stone cryotherapy, and Indie Head massage. She believes that remedial exercise (stretching and strengthening dysfunctional muscles) are one of the keys to maintaining the changes made to the client’s tissue during a treatment, providing greater relief in joints and muscles between treatments.
